         APRIL SHOWERS BRING

                MAY FLOWERS!

We have come through the chilly, damp, muddy, cloudy, sometimes

snowy last 2 months to land in the Glorious month of May. But

thanks to the previous 60 days we received the moisture that

replenishes the earth and of course the old adage that April

Showers Bring May Flowers! The daffodils and tulips are

blooming and the forest floors will be soon covered in Trilliums!

Not to much to report on the Farm Front - the paddock movable fencing is up and the horses are hillside once again. It is so wonderful to watch them turned out in the morning to run freely up the hill on the vibrant spring grasses!  (They must be introduced to this slowly over a couple of weeks with increased time allotments as fresh grass can induce colic in equine.) But once climatized they are a joy to watch heading out kicking up their heels! Below is a video of this years babies having a turnout all together on an early April day.

Here is the same trio stopping for a quick photo before bounding off again!

As of the end of April the grass has been cut for the 1st time, the grain has been planted and as of the writing of this blog it is up and looking good. In the days ahead the fields will be worked, corn planted, the veggie garden planted as well. Enjoy these spring days (yum fresh asparagus) as they lead us (not to quickly I hope) into June with fresh strawberries and newly mown hay!

Thought I would end with a couple of pictures below of "Minion" the cat who seems to like hanging out with the chickens as of late!

Until next time, Jeanne & Kim (if interested in current listings then click the link below)
